Description

Betty H. Batts was born in Ft Worth, Texas to Christian parents. As a teenager she became a student of God s Word and began learning how to apply God s principles to her own life. God gave her a concern for children who had no opportunity to learn about God, a desire that was soon translated into action by her becoming a teacher for a children s club and also for her church. After attending Wheaton College she completed her degree in Elementary Education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and began a career as an educator, teaching in both public and private schools. Betty had met her husband-to-be, Jerry Batts, before attending Wheaton College. They were married during his time of studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and upon his graduation they were called to a pastorate in south Texas. Later they would serve pastorates in Alabama, in Tennessee and again in Alabama where they now serve together at Shades Mountain Independent Church in Birmingham, fulfilling fifty-five years of continuous church ministry. Currently Betty is frequently called upon by individuals for personal counseling and encouragement. She is also considered as a consultant for children s and women s ministries. She also teaches a weekly women s Bible study group for which she has written a study of the Gospel of Luke. Betty and Jerry have been married for more than fifty years. They have two sons, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. This book is an overview of the principles that have guided her life since childhood when she became one of God s children.
